Happy International Peace Day
Perhaps there are those who are able to go about their lives
unfettered by such concerns. But for
those like us, our fate is to face the
world and solve some of it greatest challenges. After emerging from more
than 14 years of conflict followed by the devastating impacts of the Ebola
Virus Disease (EVD), we think Liberia deserves more in terms of revamping every
sector of the economy. Many believe that the only ways to improve these
situations are by means of help from International
Donors and Government. In
looking at these prevailing situations, the Education for Girls Initiative has
decided to take on initiatives that will help buttress government effort. As part of our many youth led
activities, we today organized an International Peace Day Meet-Up under the Theme:
The Right to Peace, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70. We believe
that we can be a role model for Change in our respective communities; we don’t
necessarily need all the answers to be a change agent, we just need the courage
to make it happen. We would also love to
use this medium to extend our thanks and appreciation to the Liberian women who
by their effort and courage fashioned out the August 18, 2003 Peace agreement
in Accra. We look forward for the best.
